Isole e Olena produced their first Chardonnay in 1987 after grafting select French clones of Chardonnay onto varietals of white grapes already thriving at the estate.
An artisanal white, this wine stands out for its quality, longevity, and style; it can be considered the ideal Isole e Olena wine. Fermented in small barrels, of which 25-30% are new wood, the aging of this wine begins only after a long contact with the finest lees.
Why we like it
VINTAGE 2021 The mild and rather dry winter was followed by an incident of frost in spring, which significantly determined the character of the 2021 vintage with a late flowering and a low yield. The summer was quite dry but some rains arriving around mid August and a careful selection of the grapes in the vineyards at the time of picking allowed us to produce a wine of great fragrance and complexity. Picking was done manually in the last week of August and the first week of September.
